The weather is starting to turn colder here in Utah, and that means several things. Holidays, family, snowmen, ice skating, and hot cocoa (just to name a few.) With the weather being cold outside, I am finding that the kids choose to be inside quite a bit more often than usual. To maintain my sanity, I have found that if I give them simple projects to do, they stay self entertained for a while which allows me time to get things done. The latest success was this DIY felt snowman.

When I first made this and showed the kids, you would have thought that I had just invented Christmas. My kids minds were blown with the way that the felt was able to stick to the felt board on our tri-sided art center from Little Partners. My oldest daughter (who is 7) spent several hours playing with the felt board making and re-making the snowman, and then when that got old, she cut out her own shapes and used them on the board.

It inspired her creativity, which really is a goal I have for all of my children. Any chance that I have to let them be creative, I try to let them have that opportunity and encourage it. This is the perfect craft for letting them go crazy because felt is super inexpensive and easy to cut. I love seeing what their little minds can come up with! To make it, you really just have to cut circles in various sizes, and then you can add other details like a scarf and hat very easily.

To tell the truth, this tri-sided art center is probably one of the best things I have ever gotten for my children. They play with it daily! Along with the felt board side, there is also a chalkboard, and a white board that also has a roll of paper that you can use to paint with. My kids have been working on spelling, coloring pictures, pretending to be artists and teachers, and I love every minute of it.
