Since this week is the week of love, I thought it would be fitting to show you my Valentine’s Day mantel decorations. Pink is my all-time favorite color, but I don’t like to over play it in my home too often. This is always the perfect opportunity for me to add some pink into my home with my husband thinking I am making everything too girly.

DIY Valentine decorations

My mantel started with the awesome “Be Mine” balloons from Target. (my favorite store ever) I purchased them for a photo shoot and decided to use them as decoration as well. My favorite part about them is that they are easily deflated and stored so that I can use them again and again! I also picked up the tassel garland from Target and love it!

I had all of the pinwheels already made from last year’s mantel decorations, and love all of the layers together.

The part that is probably my favorite is the photo banner using the Valentine’s photos that I took with my girls a couple of weeks ago. My husband bought me an Instax printer for this last Christmas, and I LOVE it! If you’ve been interested in getting an Instax camera at all, I would suggest getting the printer instead. You can select which photos to print, you can edit before printing, and you can crop! Two of my sisters got the camera for Christmas, and the one thing I noticed is that you really don’t know what you are going to get when taking the pics. The film is kind of expensive, so I like knowing what I am getting before printing. (For what it’s worth. 🙂 )

Lastly, I made this “I love you” sign using 1X6 cedar fence boards and 1X2 pine. Once I had everything cut to the size I wanted and put together, I painted the frame grey, and the sign white. To do the words, I pulled out my Silhouette machine and some vinyl and cut out the words. I weeded out the letters, put the vinyl down on the board and used it like a stencil with the same grey paint as the frame. After everything was dried, I used a sanding block to distress the sign to give it an aged look, and I am in LOVE with the way it turned out! I might need to find a place to put it year round because it is a lot of fun.
