Super Bowl Party #ad

Do you like to watch the Super Bowl, or are you like me and just like the commercials?  Don’t be shy.  No one is going to judge.  The fact is, I LOVE to get together to watch the Super Bowl, but only because I like the company and the commercials.  Go ahead and put me in cuffs, but it’s true.  However, I figure that if we are going to be watching the Super Bowl, we might as well have some delicious Super Bowl food to go along with it.  Today, I am going to show you how to take your Super Bowl party from just watching the game, to actually having a party without putting too much work into it.

Here’s what you need to get started:

  • Rubbermaid containers (These are all on sale right now at Target!  Plus you can use their mobile coupon to get an additional $1 off.  Just text COUPON to Target instead of putting in a phone number)
  • Sharpie Markers (These are also on sale at Target and have the same coupon offer as the Rubbermaid containers. The coupon is good for any four pack or more of Sharpies)
  • Black Posterboard
  • Chalk

Let’s begin with a fun backdrop.  For me, this is what makes a party something more than just a get together.  It means that you put a little bit of thought into it and makes people feel special that they were included.  It’s all about the little details without going overboard (or else you’ll go crazy trying to get everything together on time.)  I started by taking my black poster board and the silver Sharpie marker that I picked up at Target and made the backdrop to look like a game play.  After I drew it, my husband took a look at it and let me know that my receiver needed to be further over, but that it looked good otherwise.  🙂  I just looked up football game plays on Google and found one that looked like it would be a good one for my backdrop.

Now for the best part.  The food!  I like to have fun finger foods ready to go.  Some are definitely healthier than others, but I do try to add the low fat version in if it will be unnoticed.  These Baked Mozzarella Sticks with a homemade Marinara sauce are just the perfect thing to add to your game day feast.  My family went crazy over these and I probably should have doubled the recipe!

The Marinara sauce is the perfect compliment to the cheese sticks.  Here’s where a Rubbermaid container comes in handy.  I served the sauce right out of the Rubbermaid container  for a couple of reasons.  #1 because then I dirty less dishes due to #2 that if there are leftovers, I can just put the lid on the sauce and stick it right in the fridge for easy clean up.  I think it still looks pretty elegant on the plate, but SO functional as well!

The other fan favorite, especially for the kids is the traditional  Pigs in a blanket!  These are so fast to put together and cook up quickly as well.  All you need is the Pillsbury Crescent Roll dough that comes in the tubes and a package of beef little smokies.  Cut the dough into long triangles and roll the little smokies up into the dough.  Cook them until the top is nice and brown (about 9-11 min) and you are good to go!

If you are bringing them with you to make, just throw them into a Rubbermaid container and take them with you!  Just make sure that they have fully cooled before you put them in the container or they will stick together.

I hope you’ve found some ideas that will help you plan your upcoming Super Bowl party!  And be sure to laugh extra hard at those commercials cause that is what I will be doing.  🙂
